About each tool

Maket.ai

AI workspace for residential floor plans and renders, in the browser. Free plan available; Homeowner is $20 a month (annual billing 17% off).

Who it is for

The vendor's FAQ lists homeowners, builders and contractors, real estate developers and architects, and says Maket is built exclusively for residential projects. Commercial, industrial and institutional buildings are out of scope, and its layouts follow North American residential conventions.

Strengths

  • Maket says it generates 1 to 4 story residential plans and produces multiple variations to compare; multi-floor generation is on paid plans.
  • Layouts can be changed in plain words or by hand, and the features page lists your own furniture and your own floor, tile and paint materials for renders.
  • The Free plan lists 30 one-time credits covering single-floor generation, the editor, rendering and link sharing, with no credit card required.
  • The pricing page says plans can be changed or canceled at any time; upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge, and an annual plan stays active until its term ends.

Limitations

  • Credits are metered: 20 per floor generated or uploaded, 10 per render and 5 per optimization. Homeowner's 300 monthly credits cover up to 15 floors, and Free's 30 one-time credits cover one floor plus one render.
  • The terms say outputs are conceptual, and that Maket does not check measurements, building codes, zoning, structure or permits; a licensed professional must review a design before construction or permitting.
  • Payments and credits are generally non-refundable. The pricing page does not state refund terms, commercial-use rights or seat limits, and the terms and FAQ disagree on the billing-error reporting window (30 days in the terms, 7 days in the FAQ).

Archistar

Property research and generative 3D design platform for development sites. Free plan; paid plans start at $79.17 a month billed annually ($95 monthly).

Who it is for

Archistar's site lists property developers, architects, home builders and government planners as users. Its pricing page positions the tiers around site size and state coverage, with the National tier for Australia-wide work.

Strengths

  • Archistar says it shows zoning, planning data and permitted uses for a site, and lists zoning codes, planning rules, environmental risks, contours and property market data on the Free plan.
  • Archistar says it generates designs for apartments, commercial and mixed-use buildings, can run financial feasibility on those designs, and exports DXF CAD files.
  • The product page lists a 3D building layer over Nearmap aerial imagery; the pricing page lists Nearmap imagery, Cordell development listings and bulk site adding from Professional up.
  • A 3D Generative Design Add-On for Autodesk Forma was announced on September 14, 2025 as a free app, with finished designs able to move into Autodesk Revit, and is listed as available globally.
  • The pricing page says 'No contract - Cancel anytime' and sells Basic, Professional and National on either monthly or annual billing.

Limitations

  • The Terms and Conditions say subscription fees are non-refundable, plans renew automatically, and cancelling gives no refund for the unused part of a period, even though the pricing page says 'Cancel anytime'.
  • The Terms say amounts are GST-exclusive with GST added where applicable, but the pricing page says 'All prices include GST'. The Terms also bar reselling, white-label systems and using platform data to train AI models without a signed agreement.
  • The National card says 'One state access' under its price, although the plan is described as Australia-wide, and its feature list is identical to Professional.
