What is Respeecher?
Respeecher runs a voice marketplace that offers text-to-speech (TTS) and speech-to-speech (STS) voice conversion, with celebrity and voice-actor voices. It runs in a web interface, with a Pro Tools plugin and a developer API listed on its marketplace page.
Who it's for
The vendor's marketplace page lists game characters, audiobooks, virtual assistants, advertising, e-learning and podcasts as use cases, with self-serve subscription and pay-as-you-go plans. The pricing page sends larger buyers to a custom Enterprise plan with SSO, custom voices and on-premise options.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The pricing page lists pay-as-you-go credit packs with no monthly fee, from $5 for 5 credits (20k TTS characters or 5 STS minutes), up to 500 credits for $250.
- The marketplace page lists 40+ voices, 160+ narration styles and accents, multilingual TTS, and a Pro Tools plugin that shifts pitch by up to 12 semitones.
- The pricing page lists three subscriptions: TTS only (30,000 characters), Creator (400,000 characters and 90 STS minutes) and Power (3,000,000 characters and 900 STS minutes).
- The marketplace page says celebrity voices are listed legally and moderated for ethical use, and it also lists a real-time TTS API aimed at voice agents.
- The terms say customers own their uploaded content and the voiceover generated from it, subject to the use restrictions and Acceptable Use Policy; the terms do not mention using recordings to train AI models.
Limitations
- There is no permanent free plan. The pricing FAQ offers a free trial without stating its length or allowance, and the terms prohibit commercial projects on trial plans.
- Usage is metered: the terms say credits expire one year after purchase and fees are non-refundable. Subscriptions start with a one-year initial term, then renew monthly, and stopping renewal needs written notice 60 days ahead.
- Daily and plan caps apply: TTS only lists 350 daily TTS requests and no STS minutes, Creator lists 100 daily TTS requests, and Power lists 500. The page's own tables disagree on pack sizes (30K vs 20k characters for 5 credits; 100K vs 60k for 16 credits).
- The feature table appears to show API access only on Power and Enterprise, and commercial usage rights only on Enterprise (Reported, read from icon placement). The terms only restrict trial plans and companies with more than $1 million in annual revenue (Custom plan only), so confirm commercial rights before buying.
- The terms say Respeecher may listen to user-produced recordings to prevent abuse and may compile anonymized aggregated statistics from customer data.
