What is Claude Pro?

Claude Pro is Anthropic's paid individual subscription for the Claude assistant on web, desktop and mobile. It gives more usage than the Free plan and adds Research, unlimited Projects, Claude Code access and more models.

Who it's for

Individuals who want more usage than the Free plan allows. Anthropic also positions it for longer multi-step tasks and for using Claude Code in the terminal under the same subscription.

Anthropic's pricing page lists Pro as everything in Free plus more usage, Research, unlimited Projects, Claude Code, more models, Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365
Pro is listed at $17 a month billed up front at $200 a year, or $20 a month if billed monthly
Anthropic's help center says Pro offers at least five times the usage per session of the Free service, with priority access in high-traffic periods and early access to new features
Documents added to a project are cached, and Anthropic says cached tokens count less toward usage limits than uncached ones
Anthropic's Pro help article says subscribers can turn on usage credits to keep working beyond the included limits

Limitations

Usage is limited by session and by week, not by a fixed message count. The session limit resets every five hours, and a weekly limit across all models resets at a fixed time assigned to the account
Anthropic says message counts vary with message length, attached file length, conversation length and the model or feature used, and that it may add weekly or monthly caps or model and feature restrictions to manage capacity
Usage limits are shared across Claude and Claude Code on Pro
API usage is not included in Pro and needs separate Console billing
More usage is on the Max plan, at 5x or 20x Pro's per-session usage for $100 or $200 a month (web prices, monthly billing only)
Anthropic's privacy article says that if the training setting is on, chats from consumer plans (Free, Pro and Max) may be kept in de-identified form for up to 5 years

Plans and pricing

Free: $0. Chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation, code execution, memory, app and tool connections, Artifacts and up to 5 Projects. Usage limits apply with no figures stated.
Pro: $17 a month (billed up front at $200 a year), or $20 a month billed monthly. Everything in Free plus at least 5x the per-session usage, unlimited Projects, Research, Claude Code, more models, Claude in Chrome, Microsoft 365 and usage credits. Session limit every five hours plus a weekly limit.
Max 5x: $100 a month (monthly billing only). Five times Pro's per-session usage, higher output limits, priority access at peak times and early access to advanced features.
Max 20x: $200 a month (monthly billing only). Twenty times Pro's per-session usage; otherwise as Max 5x.
Team and Enterprise: Team Standard $20 per seat a month billed annually ($25 monthly); Enterprise $20 per seat a month billed annually. Organization plans on the same pricing page. Team also has Premium seats at $100 per seat a month billed annually ($125 monthly). Enterprise has a 20-seat minimum plus usage at API rates.

Prices and plan lists are from Anthropic's pricing page and help center, read through a summarizing fetch, and the help articles differ slightly (for example on usage credits). We found no Anthropic page that states extended thinking or memory availability specifically for Pro, and we did not find the default for the training setting.
