Who it's for
Spline's pricing page and docs describe it for people who build interactive 3D and 2D scenes, with a multi-team Enterprise tier for organizations. Its AI features suit users who want to prompt scene changes, or drive Spline from an MCP-compatible AI client, rather than make every edit by hand.

Strengths
- Spline's docs say the AI agent works through the editor's own commands, so its changes appear in undo history and sync to collaborators.
- Spline's docs list one credit pool that covers the AI agent, AI 3D Generation, AI Textures and Hana's generate prompt, with no separate AI subscription.
- Spline's AI 3D docs list text-to-3D, image-to-3D and combined prompts, with several selectable models and an estimated credit cost shown before you send.
- Spline's MCP docs say any MCP-compatible client can build and edit Spline scenes, through a hosted server (ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Claude, Cursor, VS Code) or the desktop app.
- Spline's pricing page lists a Free plan, and paid plans include 2,000 (Hobby), 3,000 (Pro) or 10,000 (Max) AI credits a month.
- Spline's terms say you retain ownership of your User Content, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Limitations
- The Free plan has no AI credits, limited personal files, watermarked web exports and 20 MCP tool calls a day. Video, Apple and Android exports start on Pro, per the pricing page.
- AI usage is metered in monthly credits that renew each cycle and do not roll over. Docs say higher model tiers and effort levels cost more, and 3D generation uses credits for both image previews and mesh generation.
- Spline's pricing page is inconsistent on the credit add-on: the text says $5 a month per 1,000 extra credits per seat, while the plan cards show $48 a year. The pricing page says credits are per seat; the docs say per workspace.
- Spline's terms (section 6.2) say the company may create de-identified and aggregate data from User Content and AI interaction data and use it for any commercial purpose, including training machine-learning models. The terms do not say explicitly who owns AI-generated output.
- The AI agent works on one file and one change at a time, and the docs say complex requests may apply only partially. The AI 3D docs say AI is still developing, so expect bugs. Refunds: the terms point to a separate refund policy, and the pricing page says there are no prorated refunds after a new billing cycle starts.

- Free: $0. No AI credits; 20 MCP tool calls a day; limited personal files; web exports carry a watermark.
- Hobby: $12 a month billed annually, or $15 monthly. Per seat. 2,000 AI credits a month, 100 MCP tool calls a day, unlimited 3D and 2D files, web exports without watermark.
- Pro: $25 a month billed annually, or $30 monthly. Per seat. 3,000 AI credits a month, 200 MCP tool calls a day, video, Apple and Android, USDZ/STL and GLTF exports.
- Max: $60 a month billed annually, or $70 monthly. Per seat. 10,000 AI credits a month, 400 MCP tool calls a day, everything in Pro plus 5x more media generation per week.
- Enterprise: Custom. Contact sales. Lists SAML SSO, centralized billing, multi-team organization, file version history, team library and self-hosted exports.
Prices were read from Spline's pricing page; the page does not label the higher figures as monthly, so the monthly prices are inferred from the struck-through figures next to the annual prices (the stated savings match). Prices are in US dollars, per seat. Spline's docs say older Starter, Professional and Team subscriptions remain active. Confirm on the live pricing page.
