What is Botpress?
Botpress is a platform for building and running AI agents for customer support, with Studio (a visual builder), Desk (an AI helpdesk), an ADK for developers, and a hub of ready-made integrations. Agents can be deployed to channels such as Webchat, WhatsApp and Slack and can hand off to human staff.
Who it's for
Botpress says it is aimed at customer support teams handling complicated tickets, and names SaaS, healthcare, education, retail and fintech as example industries. It also sells a done-for-you service and a custom Enterprise tier for teams without in-house builders or with larger needs.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The pricing page lists unlimited AI agents on Plus and Team (3 on Free) and unlimited seats on Team, with billing per conversation rather than per seat.
- The Hub lists 88 integrations, 13 of them channels: Discord, Instagram, LINE, Messenger and Facebook, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Sunshine Conversations, Telegram, Twilio, Viber, Webchat, WeChat and WhatsApp.
- Botpress lists Intercom, Zendesk, HubSpot and Salesforce integrations, and says Desk can connect to an existing Zendesk or Intercom setup through OAuth or work as a full replacement.
- The ADK docs describe a TypeScript-based kit with an adk command-line tool for searching, adding and upgrading integrations from the Botpress Hub.
- The privacy statement says Botpress does not use customer or end-user content, including conversation data, for model improvement or training, and processes end-user data on the customer's instructions.
- Botpress states it is SOC 2 compliant and GDPR compliant and was penetration tested by KPMG (vendor claims on its homepage).
Limitations
- Billing is per conversation (at least two end-user messages in a billing month; a conversation spanning two months counts in both, and each anonymous session counts separately). Unused conversations expire at month end.
- Free is hard-capped at 100 conversations a month with no top-ups or overages, and has 1K table rows, 100MB vector and 100MB file storage with no storage add-ons.
- Extra conversations are sold in packs of 100 ($65 on Plus, $50 on Team), added automatically at 95% of quota, and the page says auto-recharge for packs cannot be turned off. A storage add-on costs $40 a month (Plus and Team only).
- The pricing page lists included AI usage ($25 on Plus, $150 on Team, plus $0.10 of AI usage per conversation), while the May 2026 pricing post says the separate AI charge was removed and each conversation includes a proportional AI quota. Confirm which applies to your workspace.
- The May 2026 post says the new pricing applies only to workspaces created after May 14, 2026; legacy-plan workspaces keep current pricing for now. The pricing page lists voice as an Enterprise feature, while the Desk page lists AI voice agents without naming a plan; the pricing page also does not state a refund policy. The privacy statement names OpenAI and Microsoft Azure as sub-processors and says data is stored in the United States or locations the customer chooses.

- Team: $750 a month billed annually. 1,500 conversations, unlimited seats and AI agents, $150 AI usage listed, teams, routing, RBAC and team analytics; packs of 100 for $50. Monthly-billing price not shown.
- Built For You (listed as Managed plan on the pricing page): $1,650 a month (May 2026 post); pricing page shows custom. Botpress experts design, build and run the agents; custom conversation volume.
- Enterprise: Custom. Custom conversation volume, dedicated support, uptime SLA, security review, custom storage and voice channel; contact sales.
Free, Plus, Team and Enterprise were read from botpress.com/pricing, which shows annual-billing prices only (an annual toggle says 'Save 20%'); the monthly-billing prices were not shown.
