What is Clipdrop?

Clipdrop is a web-based set of AI image tools that includes text to image, background removal and replacement, cleanup, uncrop, upscaling, relight and text removal. It runs in the browser at clipdrop.co, offers a developer API, and its FAQ mentions Clipdrop Plugins for Adobe Photoshop on desktop.

Who it's for

It suits people who want quick edits and generated images from a browser without installing an editor, and developers who want image endpoints such as background removal over an API. The pages read do not describe a team or seat-based plan.

The homepage lists nine tools: Universal Resizer, text to image, replace background, remove background, cleanup, uncrop, image upscaler (2x or 4x), relight and text remover.
The pricing page lists a Free plan with 20 uses per 24 hours for Background Removal, Image Upscaler x2, Cleanup and Relight, and 50 per 24 hours for Text Remover.
The pricing page lists Pro with 1,000 uses per 24 hours per tool, skip-the-queue for text to image and uncrop, and high-resolution versions of background removal, upscaling (x16), cleanup, relight, text remover and replace background.
The API docs say remove-background accepts PNG, JPG or WEBP up to 25 megapixels and 30 MB, costs 1 credit per successful call, and has a default limit of 60 requests per minute per API key.
The API docs say logging in gives 100 free credits for development and debugging, and responses include credit headers (x-remaining-credits, x-credits-consumed).
The homepage says Clipdrop was built by InitML, acquired by Stability in February 2023 and by Jasper.ai in February 2024, and lists a support address at jasper.ai.

Limitations

The Free plan is capped per 24 hours (20 uses for most tools, 50 for Text Remover), and the Pro plan lists tool uses per 24 hours (1,000) rather than unlimited use.
The official pricing page could not show the Pro price or trial length (blank in the text read). Independent sites report Pro at about $9 a month, and one reports $7 a month billed annually while another says annual billing only, so the billing basis is unconfirmed.
Reported by an independent site: free outputs from text to image and replace background carry watermarks. The official page read does not mention watermarks, resolution limits or commercial-use terms.
The API page now says more credits require contacting Jasper, with no published rates, and an independent tracker logged self-serve credit packs as delisted in June 2026. Older third-party prices (such as packs from $32) may be out of date.
The privacy policy and terms of use could not be fetched, so training use of uploaded images, retention periods, refunds and cancellation terms are not confirmed here; the API docs page says nothing about retention.
