What is CSM.ai?
CSM (Common Sense Machines) is a 3D generative AI service that creates 3D assets from images and text prompts and can animate them. CSM's docs list the Cube web app at 3d.csm.ai plus a REST API and a Python package, with credits as the unit of use.
Who it's for
CSM's docs describe image-to-3D, text-to-image, animation and retexturing/UV tools, available in the web app and through the API. The plan list also includes higher-priced Startup, Studio and Enterprise tiers described by a third-party tracker as team, API and security tiers.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- CSM's docs list an Image to 3D tool, a Text to Image tool that uses FLUX, and an Animation tool that animates Cube assets from text prompts.
- CSM's docs say the Cube web app also has workflow tools such as AI Retexturing and UV Remapping, and that there is a REST API and a Python package.
- CSM's credits doc says credits do not expire and work across all CSM services; remaining credits show on the profile page in the web app.
- CSM's credits doc says Maker includes 100 credits and Creative Pro 400 credits per month, refilled at the start of each month; extra credits cost $0.20 each.
- CSM's FAQ says Maker and Creative Pro include monthly credits for high-resolution 3D meshes, fast dedicated servers, the full suite of creative workflows and early access to the feature roadmap.
- CSM's docs say you can cancel anytime and keep your tier until the end of the month (the FAQ says until the renewal date); upgrades take effect immediately.
Limitations
- CSM's FAQ says content made on the free Tinkerer plan is licensed under CC BY 4.0 (attribution required); the credits doc says the same for every tier except Creative Pro.
- CSM's own pages disagree on ownership and privacy: the credits doc gives full ownership only to Creative Pro, while the FAQ says Maker and Creative Pro content is private and customer-owned and lists privacy controls as Creative Pro only.
- Free credits differ by source: CSM's credits doc says new users get 1 free credit, while Costbench lists 10 one-time credits. Per-task credit costs are on CSM's plans page, which could not be read this session.
- CSM's docs and FAQ say there are no refunds for credits or subscriptions; accounts revert to Tinkerer when a paid plan ends or credits run out.
- Prices could not be read from CSM's pricing page. Costbench lists monthly prices only and no annual prices; the Blender integration in the catalog description is not confirmed on any CSM page read.
Plans and pricing
- Tinkerer: $0. Free base tier; 1 free credit at signup per CSM docs (Costbench says 10 one-time); content under CC BY 4.0.
- Maker: Reported: $20 a month. 100 credits a month per CSM docs; private, customer-owned content per FAQ; extra credits $0.20 each.
- Creative Pro: Reported: $60 a month. 400 credits a month per CSM docs; privacy controls and full asset ownership per docs/FAQ.
- Startup: Reported: $499 a month. Listed by Costbench with high-volume credits (no figure), team tools and API access.

- Enterprise: Reported: contact sales. Custom credits and enterprise privacy and security per Costbench.
CSM's official pricing page (csm.ai/pricing) could not be fetched this session, so dollar prices come from Costbench (page says last verified May 30, 2026, with an internal date inconsistency) and are Reported. Plan names, monthly credits, the $0.20 credit price, refund and cancellation terms come from CSM's docs and FAQ. Prices are in US dollars and monthly billing; no annual prices were found.
