What is Gong?
Gong is a revenue platform that records and analyzes customer calls, meetings and emails and adds AI-based coaching, deal tracking, forecasting, sales engagement and agents. It is a web application (app.gong.io) that connects to CRM, email, calendar and conferencing tools.
Who it's for
The vendor aims it at revenue leaders, RevOps, sales, customer success and enablement teams, and its pricing page sorts customers into team-size bands from 1-50 to 10,000+ users. It is sold through a custom proposal, so it is not set up for individuals who want to sign up and pay online.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The FAQ lists integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email and calendar, and Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex; calls from a phone system or dialer can also be connected, and APIs and webhooks cover other integrations.
- The pricing page says integrating your existing tech stack is free.
- The help center says Collaborators, team members with no seat assignment and limited access, are free of charge.
- The help center lists Gong Foundation as the core license, with add-on applications Enable Essentials, Forecast Essentials, Gong Forecast, Gong Engage and Data Cloud, so teams can buy only the applications they use.
- The trust page says customer data is never used to train generative AI models, is not co-mingled, and is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- The trust page lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, 27701 and 42001, PCI DSS (SAQ D), CSA STAR and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification, and the security FAQ says new customers can choose US or EU data storage (default US).
Limitations
- Gong does not publish prices: the pricing page says licenses are priced per user plus a platform fee based on the number of users, and a customized proposal is prepared after you complete a form. There is no public free plan or self-serve trial on the pages read; the FAQ offers a demo and product tour.
- A third-party article (ZoomInfo, a competitor) estimates about $1,360 to $1,600 per user per year plus a platform fee of about $5,000 a year. These are not Gong figures; treat them as Reported estimates only.
- The terms say subscriptions renew automatically for one-year periods unless notice is given at least 60 days before the term ends, payment obligations are noncancelable and fees are non-refundable, and promotional pricing renews at list price. If volume or term decreases, renewal is re-priced without regard to earlier per-unit prices.
- Gong Credits meter background agent work (AI Trackers, agentic APIs, MCP, pre-built agents such as AI Call Reviewer and AI Data Extractor); each customer gets an included pool of unstated size and buys more to go beyond it. The credits blog does not say whether credits expire.
- Plan names differ by contract date: the help center lists current Foundation-plus-applications plans (renewals from March 2025), older Core Professional, Forecast and Engage plans (onboarded 2022-2025), and Coaching, Professional and Enterprise plans (before 2022). After renewal, seats added later require buying both Foundation and the relevant application.
Plans and pricing
- Gong Foundation: Custom quote. Required core license, priced per user plus a platform fee; the help center lists it as the base for all current plans. No public price.
- Add-on applications: Custom quote. Enable Essentials, Forecast Essentials, Gong Forecast, Gong Engage and Data Cloud are added on top of Foundation and quoted separately.
- Collaborator seat: $0. Team members with no seat assignment; the help center says seats are free of charge with limited access to Gong capabilities.
- Gong Credits: Custom quote. Used by background agents and agentic APIs; an included pool comes with seats and more can be bought. Amounts and prices are not published.
- Legacy plans: Custom quote. Core Professional, Forecast, Engage (2022-2025) and Coaching, Professional, Enterprise (pre-2022) remain for customers who have not renewed.
The official pricing page lists no prices, only that licenses are per user plus a platform fee and that proposals are tailored to bands of 1-50, 51-1,000, 1,001-9,999 and 10,000+ users. Plan names come from the help center; dollar estimates exist only in a competitor's article and are not included as prices. Confirm on the live pricing page or with Gong sales.
