A cloud hiring platform for employers that covers live and on-demand video interviews, assessments, interview scheduling, conversational AI chat and an AI interviewer that holds screening conversations with candidates. The vendor says it syncs with applicant tracking systems and supports candidates on any device, including by SMS and WhatsApp.

Who it's for

Employer hiring teams and recruiters, with use cases the vendor lists as hourly and high-volume, early career and campus, technical, professional and internal mobility hiring, across industries such as retail, financial services, healthcare and the public sector. It is sold to organizations through a demo and sales process, not to individual job seekers.

Strengths

The platform page lists video interviewing (live and on-demand), assessments with an Assessment Builder, automated scheduling, conversational AI and text automation, an AI Interviewer, and cheating and fraud mitigation.
The video interviewing page says recruiters can watch, rate and share recordings in one place, lists more than 1,000 job-specific interview guides plus an Interview Builder, and says live interviews work inside HireVue or with Zoom, Teams or Webex.
The AI interviewer page says it drafts questions and answer rubrics from a job description for you to edit and approve, supports multiple languages, and sends scores to the candidate record in your ATS; it lists transcription, recording, script locking, version history and audit logs.
The AI interviewer page says candidates can opt out of AI, give consent and request accommodations, and that humans handle accommodation, opt-out and data access requests.
The platform page lists ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2 Type 2 and FedRAMP among its independent audits, and links an AI Explainability Statement and AI Ethical Principles.
The vendor's 2026 explainability statement says its interview AI uses what candidates say and does not analyze facial expressions, body language or tone of voice, and that employers make the final hiring decisions.

Limitations

No pricing is published on the official platform, video interviewing or AI interviewer pages; they point to a demo request and an ROI calculator. Any figure must come from a sales quote.
Reported third-party pricing varies by source: TrustRadius lists a starting price of $25.00 per interview with no free version or trial, while a competitor's blog (Pin, estimates not confirmed by HireVue) reports roughly $35,000 a year for an Essential tier, multi-year contracts, implementation fees of $15K-$40K and per-interview overage charges.
The same Pin article reports that scheduling, game-based and coding assessments are paid add-ons on lower tiers; the official pages do not say which modules are bundled, so confirm what a quote includes.
The vendor's cited results for the AI interviewer (such as 10 hours saved per recruiter per week and 30% fewer manager rejections) are vendor claims on its own page and were not independently checked.
The explainability statement says HireVue's scoring models were built from rater studies using applicant video interviews and that bias checks use over 900,000 applicant records; it says generative components use third-party models that are not fine-tuned on customer or candidate data. Recommended data retention is 2 years, but the customer's own policy applies. The AI interviewer page separately says use of customer data beyond running interviews is explicit and controlled.
