What is Hypar?
Hypar is browser-based space-planning software where teams turn a room program into 2D and 3D building layouts and track areas as they work. A Revit add-in moves rooms and furniture between Hypar and Revit.
Who it's for
Hypar's pricing page describes a free trial for non-professional use, and independent reviews describe the product as aimed at architects and space planners doing early layouts. A 2024 trade article says version 2.0 is meant for users who do not write scripts, not only generative-design scripters.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- A 2024 AEC Magazine article says Hypar 2.0 (released September 2024) has a bubble mode for sketching spaces as diagrams and a first AI-based layout suggestion feature.
- A hands-on review on BIMpure says programs can be imported from Excel or CSV with column mapping, and DXF files or images can be used as underlays.
- The same review lists export of 2D or 3D views as PNG and of PDFs with a custom title block and logo.
- The same review says the Revit add-in has two functions, Load Project and Send Selection to Hypar, and that the core Elements libraries are open source on GitHub.
- Reported: ArchPulse says all plans include bubble-mode planning, Excel/CSV program import, AI furniture layout suggestions and reusable room types.
Limitations
- Reported: ArchPulse says the free Personal plan is limited to 3 owned projects and is not permitted for professional work. The hypar.io pricing page itself only showed the words "Free trial" when read.
- Reported: ArchPulse lists clash detection with editable clearances, DWG import, DXF/DWG export, live link sharing and remote training as paid-plan features, and customizable libraries as Studio-only.
- Reported: Professional is priced per user, so cost rises with each seat. Studio is volume-priced for 20+ seats with no published figure.
- The BIMpure reviewer found Hypar imports only rooms from Revit, not walls, and saw misalignment when items were moved in Hypar before re-importing to Revit. The review gives no numeric caps on projects or file sizes.
- Pricing sources disagree: ArchPulse lists Professional at $100 a month or $1,000 a year per user, while BIMTools Hub lists $25 a month or $250 a year for an individual plan. No data, privacy or training terms were read.
Plans and pricing
- Personal: $0. Reported: free, non-professional use only, capped at 3 owned projects. Paid features unavailable. Described by some sources as a free trial.
- Professional: Reported: $1,000 per user a year (about $83 a month), or $100 per user monthly. Reported: adds clash detection, DWG import, DXF/DWG export and live link sharing. Billed per seat.
- Studio: Contact sales. Reported: volume pricing for 20+ seats, no published figure. Adds customizable libraries, SSO and remote training.
Hypar's official docs page and the hypar.io/pricing page could not be read in this session (the pricing page returned only metadata mentioning a free trial). Prices come from ArchPulse (checked September 2026), billed per user in US dollars; BIMTools Hub lists different, lower figures ($25 a month, $250 a year). Confirm on the live pricing page.
