Pros & cons
Strengths
- Knowt's plans page lists the Basic plan as free with unlimited file creation, live collaboration and storage, plus access to 5 million resources.
- Knowt lists Ultra as adding AI summarizers for PDFs, videos, images and PowerPoints, an AI lecture recording summarizer, an AI podcast generator, an AI voice tutor on all files and full AP, SAT and ACT prep.
- The help center says AI features on teacher-shared materials are free for students, and that the free teacher plan has unlimited AI and incident monitoring on files shared with students.
- Knowt lists ways to get Ultra without paying, such as redeeming coins earned in the Store, referring friends, or a school plan shown under Settings.
- The teacher plans page lists Ultra for teachers with a 30-day free trial, Google Classroom integration, private files and assignment analytics.
- The School Site plan is listed with LMS and rostering integrations (Canvas, Clever, ClassLink and others), an admin dashboard and a dedicated customer success manager.
Limitations
- On the student free plan, the help center lists 1 AI summary a month, 1 free full-length mock exam (AP, SAT or ACT) and 5 practice-room sessions.
- Ultra is listed as required for an ad-free experience, unlimited AI summarizing, the podcast generator, the Kai voice tutor on all files, and unlimited mock exams and practice rooms.
- The student annual plan is billed upfront at $149.99 and has a 3-day free trial; the monthly plan lists no trial. Knowt's terms say access renews automatically and may be charged without further authorization until you cancel.
- Refund terms differ between pages: the terms of service say to contact Knowt within 48 hours for a full refund minus about 3.5% fees, or up to 72 hours for 50%, while the teacher plans page says 24 hours and no refunds for iOS or Android purchases.
- The terms of service say users grant Knowt a perpetual license over content that covers training and improving its AI models. The privacy policy says Google user data is not used for AI training, and it does not say how other uploaded content is handled.
