What is Lever?

Lever is a web-based recruiting platform from Employ that combines an applicant tracking system (ATS), candidate relationship management (CRM) and recruiting analytics. Its pages also describe AI features for candidate screening, interview summaries and candidate engagement.

Who it's for

Hiring teams that want an ATS and CRM in one system and are willing to buy through a sales quote. The vendor does not publish plans or a free trial, so it is not set up for self-service sign-up by very small teams.

Strengths

Lever says every plan includes the ATS and CRM in one platform, reporting dashboards with customizable reports, and key integrations.
The AI features page lists Talent Fit matching, AI interview transcripts and summaries, an AI Screening Companion, candidate engagement alerts, drafted rejection feedback for recruiter review, and Fraud Signals (identity verification, document matching, duplicate detection, location/IP checks).
The pricing page says unlimited AI interview transcripts and summaries are part of the platform.
Lever says recruiters can see why a candidate is recommended and keep the final decision, and it names IBM watsonx as the basis for AI governance.
The security page lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report and an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate (both from Schellman), AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS in transit, and hosting on AWS in US-West2 and EU-Central1.
The homepage says Lever connects with hundreds of HR systems, background check providers and assessment platforms; it gives no exact number.

Limitations

No public prices: the pricing page says pricing is available on request and scales with team size and hiring needs, and the only routes are a quote form or a phone call.
Candidate Insights, AI Screening by VONQ and Onboarding are listed as add-ons with no prices, and the AI features page also lists an Employ Interview Intelligence (Pillar) add-on.
The Terms of Service say fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable except as stated, the agreement renews automatically for one-year periods unless written notice is given 30 days before the term ends, and renewal increases are capped at CPI plus 5% with exceptions.
Neither the security page, the AI features page nor the Terms of Service say whether customer data is used to train AI models. The Terms say Lever will not use Customer Data for any purpose other than providing the Services; confirm AI training terms with the vendor.
The security page gives conflicting deletion timelines after termination (deletion starting 90 days after termination, but also data deleted by 45 days); backups are deleted by 150 days. Confirm the exact timeline with Employ.
