What is Lexis+ AI?

Lexis+ with Protégé (formerly Lexis+ AI, renamed in February 2026 per LexisNexis) is a legal AI platform from LexisNexis for research, drafting, document analysis and workflow tasks. It runs as a web platform, with Protégé also offered in Microsoft 365 and through an API, per the vendor.

Who it's for

The vendor lists small and large law firms, corporate legal departments, government entities and academic institutions as its audience. It is a professional tool for legal teams, and the vendor's pages do not present it as a substitute for legal advice or for a lawyer's judgment.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • LexisNexis says Protégé offers drafting and redlining, conversational research, summarization, analysis of uploaded materials and workflow automation, with pre-built workflows for transactional and litigation documents.
  • The vendor lists Shepard's Verify, which checks citations in AI responses, documents and drafts and flags unsupported statements.
  • Content sources named by the vendor include primary law (case law, statutes, regulations), exclusive secondary sources, Practical Guidance (practice notes and annotated forms across 25 practice areas), Shepard's citations, web and news content, and the organization's own documents.
  • The vendor lists two assistant modes: Protégé Legal AI (multiple models grounded in LexisNexis sources) and Protégé General AI (access to models from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic).
  • Vault lets teams upload documents for AI analysis: up to 50 Vaults, kept until deleted, with results kept 90 days under My Conversations; Workrooms provide shared team spaces with permissions and activity history (vendor US page).
  • LexisNexis lists connections to iManage, SharePoint, NetDocuments and other document management systems, plus Lex Machina, Intelligize, CourtLink and Law360 within the platform.

Limitations

  • Pricing is not published. The vendor says it is customized by organization size, capabilities and content access, and must be requested from LexisNexis.
  • The only public trial found is a 2-day free trial; the sign-up page gives no eligibility, payment or cancellation terms. No free plan is listed.
  • The vendor's pages do not state which jurisdictions the legal content covers; the US and UK pages describe sources in general terms only.
  • Vendor pages disagree on Vault size: the US page says 1 to 500 documents per Vault, while the UK page says up to 1,500 documents each (both say up to 50 Vaults).
  • A January 2025 trade report (Reported) said document management system integrations carry additional cost; the vendor's current pages do not give add-on prices. The vendor's pages do not explicitly address attorney-client privilege beyond saying sensitive client information is protected, so firms should review the terms and applicable bar guidance themselves.

Plans and pricing

  • 2-day free trial: $0. Time-limited trial of Lexis+ with Protégé from the US sign-up page. Eligibility and conditions are not stated.
  • Lexis+ with Protégé subscription: Contact sales. Customized by organization size, required capabilities and content access. Quote by contacting LexisNexis (1-888-AT-LEXIS per the vendor).
  • Integrations and add-ons (DMS, API): Contact sales. Reported: DMS integrations may cost extra. Protégé API and Microsoft 365 availability are listed by the vendor without prices.

No price list is published; the US and UK product pages say pricing is custom and quote-based. The trial length came from the US sign-up page; add-on costs are Reported from a January 2025 trade article. Customer data is stated by LexisNexis not to be used to train public AI models or to improve performance for other customers, and users can opt out of personalization.
