What is Salesforce Agentforce?

Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for building and running AI agents that act on CRM data, with a builder, a testing center and a developer toolkit (CLI, VS Code). The vendor's developer page lists CRM, WhatsApp, Messenger and website channels, plus Slack, Data 360 and MuleSoft integrations.

Who it's for

It is aimed at organizations that already run Salesforce clouds (Sales, Service, Field Service, Industries) and want agents for employees or customers, and at admins and developers who build them. It is a platform sold through Salesforce contracts, not a self-serve app for individuals.

Strengths

The pricing page lists several buying models: per-user add-ons ($125 Sales/Service/Field Service, $150 Industries), Agentforce 1 Editions from $550 per user per month, a $5 per user Agentforce User License, Flex Credits and per-conversation pricing.
The pricing page says Flex Credits cost $500 per 100k credits (about $0.005 each), are usable across Actions, Prompts, Translations and Voice Actions, and that usage beyond your entitlement is billed at your contracted rate monthly in arrears with no overage penalty.
The vendor's developer page describes a free Agentforce Developer Edition for prototyping agents, plus an AI-assisted agent builder, a testing center with UI and API, Salesforce CLI and VS Code tooling, DevOps Center deployment and an Interaction Explorer for debugging sessions.
A Salesforce Foundations one-pager says eligible Sales and Service Cloud Enterprise, Unlimited and Agentforce 1 Sales customers can add Foundations at no cost, with Sales Coach, Sales Agent and Service Agent to try and 30,000 Agentforce credits on the Platform.
The vendor's Agentforce privacy FAQ says Salesforce has a zero data retention policy with third-party LLM providers and that it does not currently use Customer Data to train generative AI models; any future training would require customer opt-in.
The developer page says Flows, Apex, prompt templates and APIs can be turned into agent actions, and that agents run on the Salesforce Platform with the Einstein Trust Layer.

Limitations

Most paid options are tied to Salesforce licenses: the $5 Agentforce User License requires Flex Credits and limited CRM objects, and the $125 add-on is not available with Flex Credits or Conversations billing, per the pricing page.
Flex Credits do not roll over to later terms, and the Conversations model ($2 each, customer-facing agents) cannot be used in the same org as Flex Credits, per the pricing page. The page lists no free trial.
Reported by an independent article (salesforcebreak.com, July 2026, not the vendor): a standard or custom action uses 20 credits in production, and a Help Agent resolution uses 400 credits; the article advises confirming rates with a Salesforce account executive.
The privacy FAQ says data masking is currently disabled for Agentforce to improve performance and accuracy, and that Salesforce uses several third-party LLMs, some of which receive Customer Data directly as sub-processors.
Vendor pages differ: the pricing page lists Salesforce Foundations at $0 flat fee access while the one-pager lists caps (30,000 Agentforce credits, 600 annual logins), and its Voice example (120 credits at US$0.15) does not match the $500 per 100k credit rate (about $0.60).
