What is Cursor?

Cursor is a code editor for Windows, macOS and Linux with built-in AI features: Agent, Chat and Tab completions. It also has a command-line agent and cloud agents.

Who it's for

Individual developers on the Free, Plus, Premium, Super or Ultra plans. Teams and Enterprise plans add shared billing, admin controls and SSO for organizations.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • A Free plan includes Agent, Chat and Tab completions with Cursor's own models, with limited usage
  • Paid plans have one weekly usage pool for Cursor models, shared across Agent, the command line and Cloud Agents, and the docs say it refreshes weekly
  • With Privacy Mode on, Cursor says customer data will not be used for training by Cursor, and that it has zero-data-retention agreements with all its model providers
  • The desktop app is offered for macOS (Apple Silicon, Intel, Universal), Windows (x64, ARM64) and Linux (x64, ARM64; .deb, RPM, AppImage)
  • Teams and Enterprise list SAML and OIDC SSO, usage analytics and team-wide privacy settings, and Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs and invoice billing

Limitations

  • Free usage is limited for Agent, Chat and Tab, and no numeric limits are published
  • Plus ($8) does not include Auto, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot or third-party models, which are listed from Premium ($30) up
  • Third-party models are not covered by the weekly pool. They are billed at API list price from prepaid credit, and a monthly additional-usage limit caps extra spend
  • Included usage does not roll over, and prepaid top-ups last until used or until they expire, currently 365 days after purchase
  • With Privacy Mode off, Cursor may use and store codebase data, prompts, editor actions and code snippets to improve its AI features and train models
  • The Balance and Intelligence Auto modes are only for Teams and Enterprise with Cursor Router on, and individual plans get Cost mode only

Plans and pricing

  • Free: $0. Agent, Chat and Tab completions with Cursor models. Limited usage, no numbers published.
  • Plus: $8 a month, or $80 a year (help center). Base weekly pool for Cursor models. No Auto, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot or third-party models.
  • Premium: $30 a month, or $300 a year (help center). 4x Plus usage. Adds Auto, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit.
  • Super: $100 a month, or $1,000 a year (help center). 15x Plus usage.
  • Ultra: $200 a month, or $2,000 a year (help center). 50x Plus usage.
  • Teams: $30, $100 or $200 per seat a month (help center); $30+ per user (pricing page). Seat tier matches Premium, Super or Ultra usage. Shared billing, SSO, analytics and privacy settings.
  • Enterprise: Custom, contact sales. Pooled usage, SCIM, audit logs, invoice billing, granular spend and access controls.
  • Legacy plans (existing customers only): Pro $20, Pro+ $60, Ultra $200 a month; Teams $40 and $120 per user a month. Monthly prices only. Two monthly pools (Cursor models, other models). The docs say these plans keep working as they are.

Prices are from Cursor's help center, docs and the English pricing page; cursor.com/pricing itself could not be read. The pages differ: the help center lists annual prices and the pricing page says annual prices are not listed, and Teams appears as three seat prices in one place and $30+ in another. The pricing page and help center also word the plans differently (one refers to an X subscription and Grok), so confirm the plans and prices on the live page before buying.

Details checked October 2026 against the vendor's own pages. Prices and limits change, so confirm before you buy. Official pricing page ↗
