What is TestGorilla?
TestGorilla is a hiring platform with two products: Gorilla Assessments, where employers send candidates skills tests, video questions and AI interviews, and Gorilla Sourcing, where employers search pools of skills-tested job seekers. It runs as a web application, with ATS integrations and an API on the higher assessment tier.
Who it's for
It suits hiring teams that want to screen applicants with tests, or find pre-screened candidates, before interviews. The vendor's help pages describe Core as the entry paid tier and Plus as the tier for unlimited premium users, ATS integrations and API access.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- TestGorilla lists a full library of 350+ tests on Assessments Core, charged at 1 credit per candidate, and the Help Center says an assessment of up to 5 skills tests costs 1 credit per candidate.
- The Assessments Free plan lists 10 credits a month and five essential tests with unlimited use and no credits: Problem Solving, Communication, Time Management, Big 5 (OCEAN) and Motivation.
- Assessments Plus lists a 100+ AI interview library, job simulations, custom tests and coding challenges, ID verification, removal of TestGorilla branding, and native ATS integrations (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR, Ashby and more) plus API access.
- Gorilla Sourcing Core lists unlimited searches of both talent pools, unlimited filters and AI search, 500 invites per seat per month, and Gmail, Outlook and IMAP email integrations.
- The privacy policy says AI scores written responses and resumes against a predefined rubric, that customers can review and adjust any AI score, and that no automated cut-offs are applied.
- The privacy policy says TestGorilla does not use personal data to train, retrain or fine-tune generative AI models, and that data is held on servers in the European Economic Area.
Limitations
- Assessments usage is metered in credits. The Help Center says Core includes 250 credits per year, purchases are capped at 20,000 credits per contract year (more requires Plus), and all credits, including purchased ones, expire at the end of the contract period.
- Paid plans are billed yearly and renew automatically. The Help Center says monthly pricing is not offered, VAT is added at checkout depending on billing country, and only credit cards and PayPal are accepted (no bank transfer).
- Seats are limited: Assessments Free has 1 premium user and Core has 2 (hiring managers are unlimited), while Plus is unlimited. Gorilla Sourcing Core is 1 seat and Plus is up to 5 seats.
- Custom tests, coding challenges, job simulations, ID verification, the full AI interview library and native ATS integrations are listed under Assessments Plus, not Core. On Gorilla Sourcing, Free offers browse and preview only, and contacting candidates needs Core.
- The vendor's pages differ in places. The pricing page says the five essential Free tests need no credits, while the credits help article lists 1 credit per skills test on Free. A localized pricing page read earlier showed different Core and Plus prices, and the Help Center does not address refunds.

- Assessments Plus: From $520 a month per account, billed annually. Everything in Core plus 100+ AI interview library, job simulations, custom tests and coding challenges, ID verification, ATS integrations, API and unlimited premium users.
- Sourcing Free: $0. Browse and preview only, 0 invites, limited searches and filters; contacting and unlocking candidates needs Core.
- Sourcing Core: $74 a month per seat, billed annually. 1 seat, unlimited searches and filters, 500 invites per seat per month, shortlisting and messaging.
- Sourcing Plus: $134 a month per seat, billed annually. Up to 5 seats, everything in Core plus 1,500 invites per seat per month and personalized onboarding.
Prices were read from TestGorilla's English pricing page, which shows annual-billed rates only; monthly-billed amounts are not shown. Assessments Core and Plus are shown as 'from' prices per account, and credit tiers and top-up costs are not listed.
