What is Glean?
Glean is a work AI platform for companies that connects to a company's apps and data and offers an AI assistant, enterprise search, and a builder for agents. Glean's pages list browser, desktop and mobile surfaces, plus Search, Chat and Agents APIs, a web SDK and MCP support.
Who it's for
Glean's site describes it for enterprise teams across departments such as engineering, sales, marketing, customer service, IT, people, finance and legal, in industries including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and government. It is sold through a demo and sales process, not as a self-serve app for individuals.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- Glean says it offers more than 250 connectors to workplace tools and data sources.
- Glean lists three main products: Glean Assistant, Glean Search and Glean Agents, with agents built using natural language.
- Glean says it gives access to 40+ open and frontier models, with auto routing and a model hub, and that admins can disable premium models.
- Glean says Search, Assistant and Agents enforce source-system permissions, so users see only what they can already access in the original app.
- Glean's security page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, GDPR and TX-RAMP Level 2.
- Glean's docs say Enterprise Flex seats include unlimited Fast Mode queries, Collections, Go Links, People Directory, and agent creation, testing and sharing.
Limitations
- Glean does not publish seat prices: its pricing page lists no plans or amounts and directs visitors to request a demo. Third-party estimates exist but are unverified.
- Enterprise Flex uses pooled FlexCredits: premium-model queries, Code Writer, Slide Generation, Meeting Notes, Agent Runs and Client APIs consume credits, and Glean's docs do not give credit pack prices or overage mechanics.
- Thinking and Adaptive Reasoning queries on standard models are included only up to 100 per user per week on Enterprise Flex; extra use draws down FlexCredits.
- Core Suite requires a separate upfront Model Hub Usage commit for LLM-based features such as reasoning modes, Deep Research, Meeting Notes and voice, drawn down at model or provider API rates. Optional Flexible Model Management is charged as a percentage of LLM usage.
- Glean's pages describe two different packaging models (Enterprise Flex credits and Core Suite Model Hub Usage), and Protect+ and Premium Support are separate annual site-wide fees on Enterprise Flex. The pages read did not say whether customer content is used to train models, though Glean's community page mentions zero data retention for LLMs.
Plans and pricing
- Enterprise Flex: Contact sales. Per-user monthly seat price (amount not published) plus a pooled FlexCredit allowance; extra FlexCredit Packs can be bought.
- Core Suite: Contact sales. Per-user monthly seat fee (amount not published) covering search, connectors, governance, core agent building and surfaces.
- Model Hub Usage (Core Suite): Upfront commit, amount not published. Required for LLM-based features; usage draws down at model or provider API rates. Flexible Model Management is optional.
- Add-ons (Enterprise Flex): Contact sales. Protect+ and Premium Support are annual, site-wide fees. Developer Tools Client APIs consume FlexCredits.
Prices were not available: glean.com/pricing shows no amounts, and the two Glean docs pages describe how pricing works without dollar figures. Plan names above come from Glean's docs, which describe packaging rather than named tiers. Confirm on the live pricing page and with Glean sales.
